Cassidy, of Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāpuhi descent, works as a health promoter supporting schools in policy development. He studied finance and te reo Māori at Waikato University and was vice-president of the Waikato Students’ Union and co-president of Te Ranga Ngāku (Māori Business Students Network). Cassidy was the Waipā rangatahi delegate for Tuia Te Here Tāngata, a rangatahi Māori initiative for the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs.
